Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment to Mark 3rd NAMASTE Day on July 14

New Delhi, July 13
The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will commemorate the third NAMASTE Day tomorrow, marking three years since the launch of the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) Scheme.

The ministry informed that the main event, will be held at Rabindra Sadan in Kolkata along with the DIVYA KALA MELA, while parallel programmes will be organised by Urban Local Bodies across the country. It said that NAMASTE Day is dedicated to honouring sanitation workers, including sewer and septic tank workers, waste pickers and former manual scavengers for their vital role in safeguarding public health and environmental sanitation.

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar and Minister of State for the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale are expected to attend the event. Senior representatives from the Central and State Governments, Members of Parliament, MLAs, district administration officials and the National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation will participate in the event.
