Modi Urges Indian Community In Abroad To Promote Yoga

In the last leg of his three nation tour Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Vancouver Friday . He was received by his Canadian counterpart Stephan Harper and his cabinet colleagues.
Prime Minister first visited a local Gurudwara in Vancouver. In his brief submission, . Modi said Gujarat has a long association with Sikhism. He was given a Saropa by the Priests at the Gurudwara. Prime Minister also visited Lakshmi Narayan Temple where he addressed gathering of people.
In his speech Modi said, that he requested United Nations to observe June 21 as ‘World Yoga Day’ which was approved by the UN within 125 days. He appealed Indian community to promote Yoga wherever they are, and said Yoga is very important for balance between nature and mankind.
Prime Minister also said that Hindu religion is a way of life and not a way of worship. He hailed Supreme Court’s definition of Hindu religion and said that Hindu religion teaches us how to lead a life in a scientific way and in harmony with nature. Modi also visited the Komagata Maru Memorial and with that he winds up his 9-days, 3-nation visit.
Earlier, Modi met 10 CEOs and businessmen in Toronto and asked them what can be done to improve investment in India. External Affairs Ministry Spokesman said, most of them wanted a stable and predictable tax regime and no retrospective taxation. Most of them showed interest in infrastructure, real estate and tourism sectors.
