Modi used black money to make Ghazipur rally a success: Mayawati

14 November, New Delhi

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati today made a frontal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation move, alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party used black money to make his rally in Ghazipur a success. She termed Mr Modi’s rally a flop.

Hitting out at the Prime Minister’s move to ban high-currency notes, Ms Mayawati said, “In the name of demonetisation, the common people are being made to suffer.,”

Ms Mayawati’s reaction followed Modi’s remark on her party and the opposition during the Ghazipur rally earlier in the day.

“Modi ji makes claims of fighting against corruption, but today BJP has got its volunteers in trains from Bihar without tickets for the Ghazipur rally.

“The Prime Minister should look into his own and his party leaders’ conduct who adopted corrupt practices to make his rally successful,” she asserted.

Blasting Modi over the Premier’s comments that she accepted currency notes’ garland and her party along with other opposition parties were the worst sufferers of demonetisation, the BSP supremo said even today, the opposition party leaders and the Prime Minister could not tolerate the daughter of a Dalit honoured with garland.

“They could not tolerate if any one garlanded a Dalit’s daughter,” she claimed and added that money given to her was a result of honest sweat by her party workers.

She also reacted strongly to Mr Modi’s claim that poor are having sound sleep after his demonetisation move and only rich were roaming from one shop to another in search of sleeping pills. “The poor and Dalits are the worst hit. They do not sleep but instead of going to work to earn two times bread, they were forced to stand all day long just to change their notes.”

The SP supremo also took a swipe at Mr Modi over flagging off a train in Ghazipur. “When a railway minister could give green signal to flag off the train, why had the Prime Minister attended the function.

“The manner in which Modi attended the function and made speech, it showed that how confused and worried he was after his own decision of demonetisation.”

The former Chief Minister said just like Bihar, Modi started attending inauguration and foundation stone laying function as he wanted to misguide the public just before 2017 Assembly elections. “People will take each and every reply of Mr Modi on fulfillment of promises he made during previos Parliamentary elections.”

Ms Mayawati also raised the issue of division of state. “People of Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, Awadh Pradesh, and Western UP all wanted separate statehood so that concentrated development could take place but Mr Modi had disappointed everyone by not speaking a single world on it.”

She alleged that the Prime Minister’s recent decision was taken just to get benefit in the 2017 Assembly elections in UP, Uttrakhand and Punjab but the people had now understood Mr Modi and were not going to fell in his trap.

“Modi had promised ‘Achche Din’ and depositing Rs 15 lakh in every account after bring back black money during Parliament elections but now he was exposed before everyone,” she said adding, “Peope of UP will teach Modi a less in the coming Assembly elections.”
