Mumbai Sessions Court To Record Salman’s Statement In 2002 Hit-And Run Case On Friday

Mumbai’s Sessions court has asked actor Salman Khan to remain present in court on Friday to record his statement in the 2002 hit-and-run case.

The court passed an order to this effect yesterday after consulting the prosecutor and defence lawyers. Khan’s statement would be recorded under section 313 of the Criminal Procedure Code that allows the accused to state his side of the story towards the fag end of the trial.

Salman Khan had allegedly rammed his car into a bakery shop in suburban Bandra in the wee hours of 28th September, 2002. One person was killed, while four were injured in the incident.

A fresh trial is being conducted after the charge of culpable homicide, which provides for imprisonment of up to ten years, was invoked by a magisterial court in Mumbai hearing the case.
