Nadia Nun Gang Rape : Strongest Possible Action Against Guilty, Mamata Banarjee

The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday has reiterated strongest possible action will be taken against the guilty involved in recent alleged gang rape to a nun inside a convent School at Ranaghat in Nadia District.
Talking to newsmen at the State Secretariat , Ms. Banerjee said that the Government is taking all measures to arrest the criminals.
Meanwhile, police have detained ten persons in connection with the incident. Ms. Banerjee reached Ranaghat in Nadia District this evening to take stock of the situation and visited the School.
Later she had a meeting with the School Authority, District Administration and Representative of the local Church. The Director General of Police, G. M. P. Reddy also visited the school during the day.
People from all walks of life including Catholics gathered at Allen Park in Kolkata to show solidarity with the sisters of the convent of Jesus and Mary.
Rector St. Xavier’s College Father Dominic said that this rally shall raise awareness about the need for better safety and security of women in educational Institutions so that such incidents do not recur in future.
