Nalco Signs Agreement With Chaleico Of China For R & D Cooperation

The public sector National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has signed an agreement with Chaleico of China, for R&D cooperation in the fields of mutual interest.

As per the agreement, both the companies will take up projects on separation of iron concentrate from Red Mud and Extraction of Gallium from Bayer Liquor.

Extraction of marketable iron concentrate from Red Mud is the first R&D project with Chaleico which will be a major step in extracting value out of Red Mud, otherwise treated as an industrial waste, NALCO CMD Tapan Kumar Chand said.

He said, on successful completion of the project, the efforts will be commercialised through a demonstration plant, Chand added.

The agreement was signed yesterday by NALCO executive director (business development) Dr B K Satpathy and Chaleico general manager Guo Pu in presence of Chand.
