National Games is great platform to showcase spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the 38th National Games in a dazzling ceremony at Dehradun. On this occasion, he said, the National Games is more than just a sporting event. The Prime Minister termed it a great platform to showcase the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.’ He said thousands of youth from every corner of the country are going to show their capabilities in Uttarakhand. Mr. Modi informed us that this time many indigenous and traditional games have also been included in the National Games. This year’s National Games are also Green Games in a way.

The Prime Minister emphasised that the government is creating more and more opportunities for the country’s athletes to help them enhance their potential to the fullest. He highlighted that India is making a strong push to host the 2036 Olympics.

The National Games are being held in 11 cities of 8 districts of Uttarakhand till the 14th of next month. A total of 47 events of 35 games will be organised during the event. Various guests, including Union ministers, Indian Olympic Association officials, and national players, also attended the opening ceremony. Prior to the formal inauguration of the games, a triathlon competition was organised at Golapar in Udham Singh Nagar on January 26, in which Manipur and Maharashtra bagged their first medals
