NCW issues notice to SP leader for remarks on Jaya Prada

New Delhi, March 28:

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has served a notice against the Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Firoz Khan over his alleged sexist remarks on Bhartiya Janta Party’s newly inducted candidate from Rampur, Jaya Prada.

Khan, who is SP district president from Sambhal waded into a controvery earlier on Thursday by saying people of Rampur will get entertained in the ensuing polls, where SP’s Azam Khan will face BJP’s newly-inducted actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada.

BJP’s district president Rajesh Singhal too responded to Khan’s comment with an alleged derogatory reference to Firoz Khan’s sisters.

“Jab yeh Jaya Prada SP mein hua karti thi uss samay kya rishta tha, bhai behen ka rishta tha kya. Bhai behen ke rishte ke saath raatein rangeen hoti hai kya, iska matlab inke gharo mein jo behene hain yeh unke saath raatein rangeen kartein hain kya. Jis prakar se Jaya Pradaji sab ki behen hain, Azam Khan ki behen hua karti thi to hamari behen hai. Yadi unhone beheno par is tarah ka bayan diya hai, iska matlab Firoz Khan ke parivaar mein behenein raatein rangeen karti hai kya”

(When Jaya Prada was in the SP she was like a sister to Firoz Khan. Why is he making such disparging remarks about her now. Does this mean that Firoz Khan’s sisters also make the nights coulourful. Jaya Prada was like sister to Azam Khan, and now she is like a sister to me, then why is Firoz Khan making such comments on someone else’s sister) .

Jaya Prada joined the BJP on Tuesday and announced that she will contest from Rampur Lok Sabha seat. “It feels like going back home,” she had said.

Khan had earlier on Thursday said in Hindi, “Evenings in Rampur will now become more vibrant during elections. Azam Khan has done enough for the people of Rampur, so they will surely vote for him. But they will leave no stone unturned in getting entertained during this one-off opportunity.”
