Nirbhaya Case: Juvenile Convict Walks Free

The juvenile delinquent — youngest of the six men — convicted in the December 16, 2012 brutal gangrape of a woman, was today released from the custody of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), under which he had been placed after conviction.
Amid tight security, he was handed over to an non-governmental organisation (NGO), where he will stay under their supervision.Earlier, on Friday, Delhi High Court had refused to stay his release after he spent three years detention in the observation home
.A division bench, comprising Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath, in its order, said the JJB will pass appropriate orders for social mainstreaming of the juvenile in accordance with the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and Rules.
