NITI Aayog releases comprehensive study on not-for-profit hospital model in country
New Delhi, June 29
NITI Aayog today released a comprehensive study on not-for-profit hospital model in the country. The report was released by NITI Aayog Member Health Dr VK Paul.
On this occasion, Dr. Paul said, there has been relatively low investment in the expansion of the healthcare sector in the private domain. He said, the report on the not-for-profit sector is a small step in that direction. Talking about the relief measures announced yesterday by the Union Finance Minister, he said, the stimulus will provide an opportunity to change the condition of the healthcare sector in the country.
The study provides insights about the operation model of not-for-profit hospitals. The study discusses in detail the cost-containment strategies implemented by not-for-profit hospitals. It seeks to understand the challenges that burden the operations of these institutions and hinder their growth. The report proposes short and long term policy interventions.
NITI Aayog has been extensively studying the private sector’s healthcare-delivery mechanism. There is a lack of reliable and structured information on not-for-profit hospitals which provides quality and affordable healthcare.
