Nitish rules out himself from racing for PM post

Chief Minister and JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar today ruled himself out from racing for the post of Prime Minister in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, saying he was nota fool and understands the political realities.

Kumar told media persons here that the JD(U) was a small party and he personally does not think of becoming the PM of the country. Anyone having the potential to lead the party or alliance and can fulfill the aspirations of people of the country is fit to become the PM, he remarked.

The chief minister denied having made any claim of being capable to be the PM, when asked about a statement that he made earlier. On reporters repeatedly asking the same question, a slightly irked Mr Kumar said he was sincere about his decision of not contesting the 2019 election.

“Who knew Narendra Modi five years back but the people saw the required potential in him, who could fulfill their aspirations,” Kumar said and added that Modi succeeded in becoming the PM in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
