Odisha bound bus with 64 migrants from Surat met with an accident in Kalinga Ghati, one killed

One person was killed and one injured crictically when a bus carrying the migrants from Surat met with an accident at Kalinga Ghati bordering Ganjam-Kandhmal district of Odisha , about 300 Km from here on Saturday evening , police said.
The Odisha bound Special luxury bus (Patel) with the Registration No.GJ18-X-2693 was carrying around 64 migrant labourers and workers inclouding children and woman from Surat city of Gujrat said Satyabrata Bhoi,DIG, Southern range ,Berhampur.
However, other passengers were rescued by the Odisha Fire Service and Police personnel .The injured passenger Tapan Sethi was admitted in the near by Bhanjanagar PHC.The deceased was identified as Chittaranjan Sethi. Bothe theinjured and deceased belonged to Buguda village of Ganjam district, said, Sukant Sethy, the Chief Fire Officer, Odisha.
Sethi said that three teams of Fire service personnel were deployed in the rescue work. A major accident was averted as the the ill-fated bus tilted to right side in the zig-zag ghati road.. Despite, the bus has been escorted by the Police party, the Driver might be losing control since as he was new to this hilly terrain. Otherwise, the bus could have plunged into a gorge 200 feet below the Ghati, if turned left, he said.
The Odisha Transport Minister Padmanav Behera has ordered a highlevel Departmental inquiry into the accident.
The migrants from Surat were returning to their native place –Ganjam following relaxation of lockdown norms by the center by their own arrangements.
