Odisha CM asks all departments to use Internet Forums

Chief Minsiter Naveen Patnaik Tuesday directed all Departments of State Government to use Internet Forums like Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Google to establish two way communications between the Government and the citizens.

Stating that the Government is committed to openness and responsiveness in governance, he directed all the departments to take appropriate actions for using social media.

Chairing a high level meeting at Secretariat, Mr Patnaik said the Government, which functions at multiple levels, needs to have prompt interaction with people directly.

The Chief Minister also advised to use precise and accurate information on social media. As per discussion in the meeting, a high level committee will be formed and a consulting agency will be engaged for the purpose. The IT Department will work as the Nodal Agency and the Information and Public Relations Department will be the Content Manager for the purpose.

Chief Minister’s office sources here said appropriate guidelines will be prepared for all Government officers and training will be given to the personnel engaged for this purpose. Each department and district will create their own accounts.

During the meeting, the chief minister also directed the departments to update their websites, make them dynamic and attractive.

The meeting was attended by IT Minister Pranab Prakash Das, Chief Secretary A P Padhi, Development Commissioner, IT Secretary and the Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of all departments.
