Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Urges JP Nadda To Release of Rs.1,073 Cr for New Medical Colleges

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday called on Union Health Minister JP Nadda in Delhi.

The duo discussed the sanctioning of the release of Rs. 1,073 crores for establishing new medical colleges in five district hospitals of the state.

“To sanction a release central share of 75 percent amounting to Rs. 1,073 crores for establishing new medical colleges in five district hospitals namely, Koraput, Balangir, Puri, Balasore and Baripada,” Patnaik said.

“To approve the state proposal for setting up a drug-testing laboratory at Sambalpur at the cost of Rs. 56.35 crores and expedite an establishment of paramedical sciences institution at Bhubaneswar, he added.

Patnaik said that the status of the mental health institute in Cuttack would be upgraded to super speciality institute of mental health and neurosciences on the pattern of NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences) in Bangalore.

Patnaik and Nadda also discussed the setting up of a central institute of yoga and naturopathy, with a 100-bed hospital.

“We want to enhance grant and aid under Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN) scheme to Rs. 10 crores per annum. And lastly, continue national health mission on the existing pattern of 75-25 central-state share,” he added.

The Union Health Minister said that he would examine all these matters and try and expedite them as soon as possible.
