Odisha Govt. Announced CB Probe As Question Paper Leak For Police Constable Recruitment Exam.Issue Rocked Assembly

The Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday announced in State Assembly that Crime Branch had been asked to probe the alleged leakage of questions for written examination of recruitment of Civil Constables in Odisha Police as ruckus prevailed in the house over the issue.

While the opposition Congress demanded an inquiry into the question paper leakage that led cancellation of the examination on Sunday, the BJP sought resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who also holds the home portfolio. Both Congress and BJP also demanded a Statement from The Chief Minister who is in charge of Home Affairs.

As soon as the house assembled, Congress members rushed near the speaker’s podium seeking a statement from the chief minister over the issue.

Finding it difficult to run the proceedings , the Speaker Niranjan Pujari was forced to adjourn the house several times in the prelaunch session.

The opposition law makers also rejected the Chief Ministers announcement of a crime branch probe into the question paper leak.

“How can police probe the misdeeds of other police officers accused of leaking the question papers? There should be an impartial probe to find the actual truth,” said Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra.

He alleged that some high-ranking police officers were part of the racket that sold question papers in the market.

BJP legislature party leader Basant Panda said the chief minister should resign.

Making a statement in the assembly, Patnaik said the crime branch has been asked to investigate the question paper leakage incident and asserted that strong action would be taken against those involved.

Strict acation will be taken against all those found responsible for this serious lapses, he said .

Patnaik admitting the leakage of questions , said that in order to ensure integrity , fairness and transparency in recruitment process, the Selection Board decided to cancel the written examination .

The Chief Minister assured that State Selection Board was taking steps to conduct the written examination afresh shortly.
