Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das shot by cop in Brajarajnagar of Jharsuguda district, CM orders Crime Branch probe

Odisha Health Minister, Naba Kishore Das, was shot at in Brajarajnagar of Jharsuguda district on Sunday.  The Minister was on his way to attend a programme.

Das was shot at just as he stepped out of his vehicle. Business partner of Minister Das has received a threat call  Saturday night.

Informing media persons, Gupteswar Bhoi, SDPO, Brajarajnagar said, an ASI of Odisha Police opened fire at the Minister. The accused cop, identified as Gopal Krushna Das, was immediately nabbed and detained by police for questioning

The cause of the opening of fire by the ASI Police Das was yet to be ascertained. Inquire has been started into the incident..

He was serving as an ASI at the Gandhi Chhak police outpost in Brajarajnagar. The exact reason behind motive of the firing By Das is still unclear.

Meanwhile, the  Health Minister Das,  who was shot at in Brajarajnagar airlifted to state capital Bhubaneswar in a critical condition for his better  treatment in the private Apollo Hospital. A green corridor was arranged by the police to take Das safely to the hospital.

Patnaik consoled the son of Health Minister Das who was shot at in Brajarajnagar, Jharsuguda district.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik rushed to Apollo hospital much before to organize the treatment of his cabinet colleague.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Patnaik, who is also the Home Minister, has ordered Crime Branch probe into the firing incident.

Patnaik condemned the attack. In  twitter message , he said,” I am shocked at the unfortunate incident of attack. I strongly condemn this and pray for his early recovery. Crime Branch is directed to take up investigation. Senior officers of Crime Branch are asked to go to the spot,” he said.
