Odisha To Convert All Thatched Houses To Concrete ones by 2019 : CM Naveen Patnaik

Odisha was working on a mission to implement the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojona and all thatched houses will be converted to concrete ones by the end of 2019, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said on Thursday.
Chief Minister addressing the State-Level Panchyati Raj Diwas Celebration here Thursday being organized on the occasion of birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Late Biju Patnak , urged the elected members of the three-tier panchayati raj institutions and officials to work for the development of villages.
He said the representatives should work with competitive spirit to look forward to implement various rural development programmes in an effective manner and work unitedly to achieve rural prosperity.
Panchayati Raj institutions are the soul of the democracy, hence it should be strengthened and the elected representatives of the PRIs are the Government at the grassroots level, he said.
Stating that women play an important role in the development of the state, he said efforts should be made to empower all women by ensuring their participation in the implementation of all developmental and social welfare programmes.
He also added that steps are being taken to place more fund and human resources at the Panchayati level as per the recommendation of 4th State Finance Commission report.
Naveen Patnaik also congratulated and honoured the elected PRI leaders for their best performance in implementing various programmes of Panchayati Raj Department during the year.2014-15 .
Bhadrak and Kandhamal have been awarded with a cash award of Rs 7.5 lakhs each as performing Zilla Parisads. Similarly , Hinjilikatu in Ganjam district and Khajuripada in Kandhamal district have been awarded with a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh each as performing Panchayat Samities.
Three Panchayat Samities namely Bhubaneswar in Khurda distrct, Shegorn in Ganjam Distrct and Sundergarh in Sundergarh district have been awarded with Rs 4 Lakh each as performing Panchat Samitis of three Revenue Division. Besides, 38 number of Gram Panchayats have been awarded as performing Gram Panchayats in the State for the year 2014-15
