Online registration of patients introduced at Jipmer

JIPMER Tuesday introduced a complete online patient registration system along with appointment date for out-patients with state-of-art advancement in bringing information technology and health care closer to a better patient care and service.
According to a JIPMER release here Tuesday,Jipmer is the first hospital in South India to introduce this facility.To capitalize the advancement of Information Technology for better patient care, the department of Hospital Information system launched the facility of HIS web services which includes web services, Online Patient Registration System, patient portal, SMS gateway Integration and PACS Access.
JIPMER Director Dr. S C Parija inaugurated the facility in the presesence of medical superintendent Balachander among others. Now getting an appointment in JIPMER is easy and friendly. Patient can fill their details through ors.gov.in and choose the respective department for treatment along with date of visiting hospital.
On successful appointment, JIPMER HIS software will generate UHID / Hospital Number for the patient with respect to validated mobile No. and appointment ID. After the Auto generation of UHID the patient will receive the confirmation SMS in the name of BT-JIPMER which contains the UHID or Hospital No. details, location, Room No. of particular OPD services and credentials for accessing patient portal.
The patient can visit http: his.jipmer.edu.in / patient portal, so that patient themselves can login by using their UHID. In this facility the patient need not to go for walk in registration in the campus. They can straight away visit consultant of respective OPD on the scheduled date. Inside the patient portal the patient can check his / her laboratory reports from their home itself. The reports will readily be available in portal after the diagnostic reports are digitally authorized by the respective consultant, which was pharsed by Equipment Interface software from several auto analyzes.The advantage of HIS-web services will completely reduce the walk in registration and patients visit to collect lab reports.
The patient details about the visiting date, appointment details and lab reports will be online, and the same can be accessed by using individual credentials. Certain reports for which confidentiality is to be maintained, medical legal reports will not be available online, and dispatched only to concern patients but status like ready or not can be seen.
Dr. Anita Rustagi, Head of H.I.S. and . Satheesh Kumar A.K., System Engineer said the patient confidentiality Information will be secured by Registering the Aadhaar No. and Mobile No. The security check will be done by validating mobile No. through OTP for each and every login. Director Dr. S.C. Parija wants the entire HIS team towards the implementation of Electronic Health Record (EHR) dedicatedly.
