OSCAR : “Birdman” bags Best Picture Award

At the 87th Annual Academy Awards or the Oscar, Birdman bagged the best picture award. The Broadway-set “Birdman”, hailed for its complex narrative about the impact of fame and artistic ego. In the glittering Oscsar award ceremony at Los Angeles today, British actor Eddie Redmayne won the best actor Oscar award for his role in “The Theory of Everything”.

Julianne Moore adjudged the best actress for her role in Still Alice. Alejandro G Inarritu won the best director trophy for comedy Birdman. The director earlier won the best original screen play trophy that he shared with co-writers Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris Jr and Armando Bo.

Walt Disney’s super hero action comedy film “Big Hero 6” won the best animated feature film. The film got the awards for its inspiring story of a teenager robotics prodigy, who forms a superhero team to combat a masked villain.

The 3D computer-animated film, inspired by the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, won the first Oscar for its directors Don Hall, Chris Williams and producer Roy Conli.

The black-and-white Polish film “Ida” bagged the award for the best foreign language film. The movie was directed by Pawel Pawlikowski.

Composer Alexandre Desplat, who had two nominations at the 87th Academy Awards, won an Oscar for original score for his work in “The Grand Budapest Hotel”.

The 87th Annual Academy Awards -the Oscars was held at Hollywood’s 3,300-seat Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles today.

The Phone Call won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film. The best supporting actor award was bagged by JK Simmons for the film, Whiplash. Patricia Arquette claimed the best supporting actress award for the movie, ‘Boyhood’.

Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1 has bagged the award for the best documentary short subject.
