Over 65 % voter turnout recorded till 5 PM in Karnataka Assembly elections; Counting to take place on 13th May

Over 65 percent voter turnout was recorded till 5 PM in Karnataka Assembly elections. Queues of voters are being witnessed at some polling booths even at the end of the voting at 6 PM. The Election Commission has allowed voters who entered the polling booths till 6 PM to cast their vote.
The highest of 78.22 percent polling was reported in Ramanagaram district, and the lowest of 48.63 percent in Bengaluru South till 5 PM. Polling began at 7 AM. A total of 2,615 candidates are in the fray for 224 assembly constituencies. Voting was held at 58 thousand 545 polling stations.
The election was by and large peaceful throughout the state. 23 persons have been arrested on the charge of damaging control and ballot units and manhandling an officer in Masabinala of Basavanabagevadi constituency in Vijayapura district.
