New Delhi, June 19
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today disbursed incentives worth two thousand four hundred crore rupees under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) at a function in New Delhi. This disbursal marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the PM-VBRY, which is the government’s flagship employment-linked incentive scheme aimed at accelerating job creation, enhancing employability and expanding social security coverage across sectors.
The incentive has supported the creation of 15 lakh employment opportunities across the country. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said in the 21st century, opportunities will belong to nations that nurture skilled talent, foster innovation and uphold the highest standards of quality. He said India is set to lead from the front. Mr Modi said India’s youth will be at the forefront of driving global growth, innovation and entrepreneurship in the years to come.
Mr Modi said the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana is about empowering first-time employees and building a bridge between youth and industry. He said the aspirations, skills and potential of India’s youth shape the path to a Viksit Bharat. He highlighted that under the scheme, around 70 lakh jobs have been created so far. He added that around 20 lakh young people have already completed six months in their new jobs, and out of these, 10 lakh have received incentives as beneficiaries of the scheme. The Prime Minister said that around 2,000 crore rupees have been directly credited to their accounts.
Mr Modi also said that during his recent visit to France and Slovakia, he felt the world is gradually recognising the potential of India’s youth. In the 21st century, opportunities will belong to nations that nurture skilled talent, foster innovation and uphold the highest standards of quality. The Prime Minister emphasised meeting the highest quality standards to compete globally.
Under the scheme, first-time employees are eligible for an incentive of up to 15,000 rupees, providing crucial support as they enter the workforce. Employers generating additional employment are eligible for incentives of up to 3,000 per month per additional employee, thereby encouraging sustained job creation.
Earlier, before the disbursal of incentives, the Prime Minister interacted with some of the youth at the Vigyan Bhawan. Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Labour and Employment Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said that the Modi government has implemented the four important labour Codes for the welfare and interest of the workers.
