PM Modi embarks on seven-day US visit tonight
New Delhi, September 20:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on a seven-day long visit to US tonight.
In the first leg of his visit, he will address jointly the Indian community with US President Donald Trump in Houston.
In the second leg, Prime Minister has a series of back to back engagements in New York including address to UN Climate Action Summit. Details from our correspondent in Houston.
Prime Minister will arrive in Houston on Saturday after a brief transit in Frankfurt. He will interact with top US CEOs from the energy sector.
On Sunday, he will address the Indian community at Howdy Modi event jointly with US President Donald Trump at NRG Stadium. A community reception and groundbreaking ceremony of the Eternal Gandhi Museum follows next.
Then, he leaves for New York. On 23rd September, he will address the Climate Action Summit at UN Headquarters. He will be meeting leaders for a dialogue on strategic responses to terrorism and violent extremism.
On 24th September, a series of events to mark 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi will be led by PM Modi in New York. UN Secretary-General and some Heads of nations will join PM Modi.
A special UN postage stamp will be released and Gandhi Solar Park at UN Hqrs. and Gandhi Peace Garden will be inaugurated through remote control by the Prime Minister.
Gates Foundation’s Global Goalkeeper’s Award will be presented to Prime Minister Modi for his leadership role in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Next day, PM will deliver the keynote address at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum.
A series of bilateral meetings have been planned on the sidelines of the UNGA session. Prime Minister will address the UN General Assembly Session between 10 to 11 a.m. New York time on 27th September. He returns to India on 28th September.
