PM Modi Heads For Canada on 3-Day Visit, First By An Indian PM In 42 Tears

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is heading for Canada tonight in the final leg of his three-nation official tour and will reach Ottawa early morning tomorrow. Modi’s trip to Canada will be the first bilateral sit by an Indian Prime Minister in 42 years.

The Prime Minister will meet his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper in Ottawa to advance prospects of a free trade deal.

Modi will also reach out to the Indian diaspora in Toronto and Vancouver. India’s High Commissioner to Canada Vishnu Prakash said that Prime Minister’s visit is going to be a landmark one.

He said economic and business ties are the foundation of Indo-Canadian relationship. On civil nuclear energy cooperation with Canada, Prakash said, currently the two sides are discussing the operationalization of the civil nuclear energy agreement.

Apart from holding talks aimed at increasing the trade and investments between the two countries, Narendra Modi may clinch a fuel supply agreement with Canada. Modi will also try to woo Canadian investors, corporates and entrepreneurs to invest more in India for Make in India campaign and developing infrastructure in the country.
