PM Modi Offers Prayer , Alms At Colombo Mahabodhi Society

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday visited the Mahabodhi Society in Colombo and interacted with the Buddhist monks and school children. The famous Mahabodhi society was founded by Buddhist leader Anagarika Dharampala.

Modi spent half an hour at the Mahabodhi, planted a sapling and offered prayers and alms.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi said that he stands with Sri Lanka in its effort to build a future that accommodates the aspirations of all sections of society.

He said that Buddhist monks can be seen performing pious tasks in many parts of the world. He also recounted his dream of making a beautiful Buddhist temple in Gujarat where Buddhist relics were found few years ago.

Earlier in his statement to the media following delegation level talks, Modi spoke of creating a Buddhist circuit in India for pilgrims and tourists.
