PM Modi pays homage to departed leader Jayalalithaa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Jayalalithaa by offering flowers at her body in Rajaji Hall in Chennai today. Modi, who was himself visibly emotional, consoled Chief Minister O Paneerselvam and Jayalalithaa’s long time friend Sasikala Natarajan. Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao was also present.

Modi expressed grief over the demise of Jayalalithaa. In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said he is deeply saddened at her passing away which has left a huge void in Indian politics. Modi said her connect with citizens, concern for the welfare of poor, the women and marginalised will always be a source of inspiration.
