PM Modi To Address World Conference On Climate Change In Paris Z

The Prime Minister Sunday left for Paris to attend the world conference on climate change beginning tomorrow. Modi would join about 150 heads of state and governments to set agenda for the conference.
The aim of the climate change summit is to reach a landmark global deal on limiting greenhouse gas emissions. The Prime Minister will address the summit in the plenary conference hall “Seine” on Monday at the leaders event.
Before leaving for Paris, Modi, in a tweet, said India will deliberate on crucial issues relating to environmental and climate change. Modi said he will inaugurate India Pvillion, showcasing the country’s harmony with nature, environment, and commitment to mitigate climate change.He will hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, including US President Barack Obama. The Prime Minister said he and French President Francois Hollande will jointly host a meeting of International Solar Alliance. During the twelve day conference , India’s 25 member delegation will focus on Mr. Modi’s call for “Climate Justice”.
Our correspondent reports from Paris that the summit will discuss the issue of low carbon emission by the developed and the developing countries to avoid catastrophic and irreversible impact on weather including drought, heat waves, fiercer storms and sea level rise. The summit expects a universal legal agreement by developed and developing countries by the end of the discussion. One of the contentious issues in the conference is the availability of carbon space till 2100 which can be utilized by both the emerging and developed economies.
Meanwhile early opening of negotiations to finalize the draft agreement is to begin later tonight. For this purpose a special body was created in Durban, South Africa, in 2011 for negotiations on the universal climate agreement that’s supposed to be adopted in Paris.
The climate summit is being organized in Le Bourget on the outskirts of Paris amidst tight and elaborate security in the backdrop of deadly 13/11 terror attacks on Paris in which 130 people were killed.
Meanwhile, thousands of protesters joined hands near the heart of the Paris terror attacks demanding world leaders try to save Earth from a climate catastrophe.
The human chain aimed to send a highly symbolic message to leaders on the eve of the official opening of the 195-nation UN climate summit.
Ahead of the Climate Change Summit at Paris India today said that the outcome of the conference should enable access to climate-relevant technologies at affordable prices. In its official twitter handle for the Summit, the government said that Paris agreement should enable countries to collaborate in development and large scale deployment of climate friendly technologies.
The tweet also said, India has submitted Intended Nationally Determined Contribution to the Paris conference and pledged to reduce carbon emissions by 33 to 35 percent of its GDP by 2030 from 2005 level.
