India to provide humanitarian assistance to Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti and Eritrea

New Delhi, November 12 :

India has decided to provide humanitarian assistance to Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti and Eritrea.

Briefing media this evening, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said this is in keeping with India’s tradition of reaching out to people of Africa in times of need. The aid is in the form of food aid of 270 metric tonnes to people affected by natural calamities and Covid pandemic in these countries.

INA Airavat left Mumbai on the 24th of October on a visit to this region with this aid which comprises wheat flour, rice and sugar. The Indian Naval Ship is presently in the port of Djibouti and will depart for Kenya next.
