Pradhan distributes 1000 free LPG connection under Ujjala yojana in Rayagada

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today announced to provide one lakh new free LPG connection to poor people in the tribal district Rayagada district in next one year.
Addressing a function organised here to distribute free LPG connections to 1,000 poor households under Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojna (PMUY) in Rayagada district today, Mr Pradhan said ”my aim is to provide new LPG connections to one lakh more house hold in this district.
The Union Minister said, any person listed in SECC list based on Social-Economic Cast Census 2011 is eligible to get new LPG connection free of cost and the connection will be given in the name of women of the family. He said, as per the list, 1,20,000 households of Rayagada district are eligible to get benefit of this scheme under Ujjwala Yojna adding that during the last one year 17,000 poor women of this district have been benefitted under Ujjwala Yojna.
He requested the women present in the meeting to avail free gas connections and protect their health instead of going to forest to collect wood for cooking. Pradhan said, forest cutting should be stopped and Ujjwala Yojna reach every household of the country for safe health condition of women, children and senior citizens.
He said, 15 LPG distribution centres are working in Rayagada district and 10 more would be added very soon for the smooth distribution of LPG to the consumers. The Union Minister announced that a new LPG bottling plant will be set up in the district soon to meet the cooking gas requirement of the people of the region.
