IIT Kanpur Suspends Professor Allegedly Involved In Multi-Crore Scam

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur suspended the scam-tainted professor NS Gajbhaiye .

Prof Gajbhaiye was arrested from his official residence on IIT Kanpur campus on Monday on charges of siphoning off around Rs 1,000 crore of central funds and grave irregularities in recruitment of professors and other staff members during his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of Hari Gaur Central University of Sagar in Madhya Pradesh in 2009.

The CBI had asked the institute to withhold accused Gajbhiye’s salary and initiate disciplinary action against him.

Earlier the institute had maintained that it will not suspend Dr Gajbhaiye till it gets a complete report from the CBI.
