Railways Asked To Start Work Of Khordha-Bolangir Railway Project From Bolangir Side

The construction of the Railway line from Raja Sunakhala under Bolagarh of the Rs 2000 crore Khordha-Bolangir Railway project would be completed by 2017.

Railway sources told a review meeting held here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the construction work in progress and would be completed by 2017. The 41.50 km railway line from Khurdha to Raja Sunakhala had already been completed and two trains are now plying on the section.

Reviewing the progress of the project work, Patnaik asked the Railways to start the construction work from Bolangir side on the 90 km railway line land for which has been handed over to the railway.

A sum of Rs 8 crore has already been given to the East Coast Railway for the purpose.

Railway officials told the the construction work of the railway line from Bolangir side would start from December next. The Chief Minister also directed the Revenue and Commerce and Transport department to give priority to the railway project and expedite the land acquisition work for the purpose.

he Railway was asked to give proposal for forest diversion immediately. The Odisha government has given top priority to the railway project and signed an MoU with the Railway ministry on July 20 for the completion of the project which would link Western Odisha with Coastal Odisha.

As per the agreement, the state government would bear the entire cost of the land acquisition and 50 per cent of project cost of the Daspalla-Bolangir section of the project.
