The Reserve Bank of India Tuesday kept the key rates unchanged in its sixth bi-monthly policy review.
The Central Bank decided to keep the repo rate at 7.75 percent . This stance follows rate cut by RBI on 15th of last month to tackle disinflationary pressure.
The cash reserve ratio stands at 4 percent. Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR) has been slashed by 50 basis points to 21.5 per cent.
The apex bank has fore-cast inflation to be around the target level of 6 per cent by January 2016. The estimate for the real GDP in 2015-16 is expected to rise to 6.5 per cent with risks broadly balanced.
RBI Governor Raghu Rajan said after the meeting that given that there have been no substantial new developments on the disinflationary process or on the fiscal outlook since 15 January, it was appropriate for the Reserve Bank to await them and maintain the current interest rate stance.
The first bi-monthly monetary policy statement for fiscal year 2015-16 is scheduled on 7th April, 2015
