RBI To Hold Next Monetary Policy Review On Feb 2

29 January, New Delhi

The RBI will hold its next bi-monthly monetary policy review on February 2, the sixth in the current fiscal.

will be pressure on the RBI to cut policy rates as the industrial growth is losing momentum. The industrial output in November contracted by 3.2 per cent and there are little signs of turnaround in December.

The RBI had cut the repo rate the rate at which banks borrow short-term funds from the central bank — by 50 basis points in its fourth review meeting on September 29 but maintained status quo in the fifth meeting in December.

While the Apex Bank has cut interest rates by 125 basis points since January 2015, banks have on an average reduced their lending rates by 50-60 basis points only.
