Reaction : 8 % Growth Rate Projected in Economic Survey, A Game Of Data : Congress

Congress leader Rajiv Shukla described the Economic Survey’s projection of eight per cent economic growth for the coming year as a game of data.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Shukla said that the NDA government has changed the base year for growth rate measurement which is showing good statistic.

He said nothing is visible at the ground level as price rise is still continuing and people are facing the hardship in the country.

CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury today said the Economic Survey’s projection of eight per cent economic growth for the coming year is like playing with statistics.

In his reaction , Yechury wondered how it is possible when the country’s industrial production, agriculture growth and manufacturing sectors are in the negative.

The CPI (M) leader questioned the change in base year for growth rate measurement from year 2000 to 2012 saying it will only help in depicting good growth picture in data but not at the ground level.

JD(U) leader K C Tyagi said the growth estimate is a farce. In a lighter vein, he said that good days have come only for some people and the corporates during the NDA rule. He alleged that marginal sections of the society have been neglected and economic power is concentrated only on a few people in the country.
