RVNL Sings MoU With Private Sector Dighi Port Limited For Rail Connectivity

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between Rail Vikas Nigam Limited and Dighi Port Limited in a function held in Mumbai Saturday for construction of 34 Km of railway line .

The 34-km line will link Roha and Dighi Port in Raigad district of Maharashtra. The project cost is estimated around Rs723 crore. Dighi Port, the first non- major private sector seaport in Maharashtra located on the banks of Rajapuri Creek in Raigad district over 150 km from Mumbai.

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Anant Geete, Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion Union Minister Suresh Prabhu said that port connectivity plays crucial role in the overall development of our country. He also said that railway will develop more connectivity projects all over the country to play an important role in realizing Make- in -India dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Manoj Sinha, Minister of State for Railways said that the project will provide good connectivity to the major cities in Maharashtra, resulting in enhance industrial activities and in turn will give impetus to the economic development of the country.

Maharashtra Chief minister Devedra Fadnavis said that Maharashtra Government has given clearance to a few more Port projects and speedily working on fullest exploitation of port capacity in the State.
