SAFF Cup : India Takes On Afghanistan Today

India will take on defending champions Afghanistan in the summit clash of the SAFF cup at Thiruvananthapuram today. In the semi-finals on Thursday, while India beat Maldives 3-2 in a thrilling match, Afghanistan humbled minnows Sri Lanka 5-nil.

Six-time champions India had lost to Afghanistan 0-2 in the 2013 final in Kathmandu. In the earlier edition in 2011, India had beaten Afghanistan 4-0 at home.

A triumph today will be a sort of consolation for the ndian team after its disastrous outing in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification.
