Samajwadi Party to go solo in UP polls, says Mulayam

In Uttar Pradesh, the ruling Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has ruled out any possibility of a coalition or grand alliance.

Addressing a press conference in Lucknow Wednesday, he announced that the Samajwadi Party would be going solo in the upcoming state Assembly election.

Mulayam Singh also announced candidates for 325 seats, of which 175 seats are of sitting MLAs. The SP chief said that candidates for the remaining 78 seats will be announced at a later date. He was accompanied by his brother and state party chief Shivpal Yadav. The Party had already announced 175 candidates for upcoming Assembly elections.

Reacting to the announcement of list of the candidates, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that those who have worked hard are youths and they should get tickets.

CM also said that he will talk to the party chief in this matter. Many MLAs and young leaders, close to CM, could not find place in the list issued by Mulayam Singh today. It has now become evident that Mulayam Singh has not given any attention to the list of 403 candidates which was sent by Akhilesh Yadav a few days ago.
