Sambalpur Ex-BJP MLA Arrested For Wielding Sword In Hanuman Jayanti Rally Violating Order

Police Wednesday arrested senior BJP leader and Sambalpur ex-MLA Jayanarayan Mishra on the Charges of Wielding Sword in violation of the prohibitory orders imposed by the district administration and forwarded to local court .

He was arrested near the District BJP office of Sambalpur and later was forwarded to local court where BJP activists clashed with Police in protest.
A case was registered against Mishra Tuesday in Ainthapali Police station for defying the ban on display of weapons during Hanuman Jayanti .
In order to maintain communal harmony , the District administration had clamped prohibitory orders on display of arms during the procession by imposing Section 144 A of CrPc .
Tuesday when the main procession began from Hanuman Temple at Brooks Hill , Mishra tried to wielded Sword . Though he was prevented by Additional SP SK Panigrahi , there was a scuffle that ensued Panigrahi fell on the ground.
However, Mishra protesting the arrest , claimed that , wielding sword during the Hanuman Jayanti procession is not a crime as it is part of Hindu tradition .
