Scrapping Of 66A Of IT Act : UP Minister Azam Khan Blames Media for Supporting Criminals

Uttar Pradesh Minority WelfareMinister Mohammad Azam Khan, though refusing to make anycomment on the Supreme Court’s order to scrap Section 66A ofthe IT Act Tuesday, however, blamed the media for supportingthe criminals.
‘Aap log aparadhiyon ki himayat kartey hain (you support criminals),’ he said, while talking to reporters here.
A19-year-old student was put behind bars on the complaint of Khan after the posted some objectionable statement on thelatter’s Facebook page.
The boy identified as Vicky Khan of Bareilly, was sent tojail under Section 66A of the IT Act and other releventSections of the IPC, but was granted bail after two days injudicial custody on March 20.
The Minister justified the police action and even went tothe extent of saying in the state Assembly that the arrestedyouth’s age was 35 and not 19.
