Several global leaders congratulate PM Modi on completing 25 years as head of government

Leaders from several countries, including Japan, Bhutan, the Philippines, Belgium, Nepal, Nigeria and Botswana today congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years of continuous public service as head of government. Mr Modi was elected Gujarat Chief Minister on 7th of October in 2001, and served three consecutive terms in the state before becoming Prime Minister in 2014.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi praised Mr Modi’s contribution to India’s development and growing global profile. She said Japan and India share a strategic direction and expressed her desire to further strengthen the bilateral partnership and work towards a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay described Mr Modi as an “avatar of our times”, saying he had instilled greater confidence and pride among Indians. Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Office extended warm congratulations and best wishes to Mr Modi.
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever also congratulated Mr Modi, expressing their commitment to further strengthening ties with India.
Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu called the milestone historic, describing 25 years of continuous leadership as a rare achievement in a democracy. He said Nigeria values its strategic partnership with India.
Botswana President Duma Boko also congratulated Mr Modi, commending his dedication and service to the people of India and expressing hope for enduring friendship between the two countries.
