Shiv Sena Objects Shobha De’s Tweet Calling CM “Dictatwala” , Seeks To Move Privilege Motion

The Shiv Sena Wednesday objected to columnist Shobha De’s tweet regarding Maharashtra government’s decision to make it mandatory for multiplexes to screen Marathi films during the prime time slot, and sought to move a breach of privilege motion against her. Shobha De is supposed to reply to the notice.

Reacting to the development, De again tweeted that now an apology is being demanded from her.

De said she is as much a Maharashtrian and loves Marathi movies like everybody and would continue to do so.

Earlier Wednesday , Shiv Sena legislator Pratap Sarnaik while speaking in Legislative Assembly said the novelist had hurt the sentiments of the House which had whole-heartedly welcomed Culture Minister Vinod Tawde’s Tuesdat’s announcement about screening of Marathi films in multiplexes to be made mandatory during prime time. Sarnaik sought to move a breach of privilege motion against De.

The BJP-Shiv Sena state government Tuesday decided to make it mandatory for multiplexes across the state to screen Marathi films during the prime time slot between 6 and 9 PM.

Following which Tuesday night, novelist Shobha De had tweeted, calling Chief Minister as ‘Diktatwala’. First Fadnavis banned beef and now trying to control films’ screening. This is enough as this is not the Maharashtra all love and so the Chief Minister should stop now.
