Siddaramaiah resigns as Congress legislative party leader

Bengaluru, December 09 :

Congress leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced his resignation as the Legislature Party Leader in the State Assembly.

Addressing media persons in Bengaluru Monday, Siddaramaiah said he bows to the public mandate and resigns on moral grounds due to the dismal performance of Congress in the by-elections.

He said his resignation letter has been sent to AICC President Sonia Gandhi and General Secretay KC Venugopal.

Siddaramaiah said that his expectation that people will teach disqualified MLAs a lesson has not come true.

Congress could win only two out of 15 seats that went to polls.

All the disqualified MLAs, except two, have won the election.
