Skill Development Policy Of 2009 To Be Revised In Couple Of Months : Rajiv Pratap Ruddy

The National Skill Development Policy of 2009 will be revised within a couple of months. Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy informed the Lok Sabha Wednesday that the government has already undertaken the skill gap mapping both geographically and sector-wise.

Responding to supplementaries during the question hour, the Minister said the government is also proposing to set up a counsel for domestic help sector.

The Counsel has to certify domestic helps in the future. In this context, he said around 6,000 Indians, who were recruited by several agencies have been languishing in various jails in middle-east and other countries for violating the local laws.

Replying to a question on setting up of skill development centres in all the Lok Sabha Constituencies, the Minister said the Prime Minister has directed to make use of national infrastructure like educational institutions, public sector undertaking offices for setting up of 24×7 skill development centres.

He said an estimated 119 million youth will be trained within five years to make them employable.
