South-west Monsoon to hit Odisha coast by Jun 8

In a major relief to people from heat, the Indian Meteorological Department Saturday said that the south-west monsoon will enter Odisha on June 8. The Bhubaneswar Met centre sources said the onset of south-west monsoon will take place over Andaman and Nicobar Island in the next 3-4 days.
From there, it will move towards the Kerala coast and gradually move towards north-east and hit the Odisha coast by June 8. Under the influence of the circulation, a low pressure area is likely to form by this evening which is expected to become further well marked over the next 48 hours.
While, rainfall is likely to increase in the coastal belt after 18th of this month, the Met sources said there is a possibility of isolated rain or thundershower at some places in Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Balasore and Bhadrak districts this evening due to Norwester.
