Speaker refers issue of Trinamool ‘sting video’ to Parl Ethics Committee

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan Wednesday referred the issue of alleged bribery sting video involving some Trinamool Congress members to the Ethics Committee of Parliament for a through probe. Soon after the Question Hour was over, Ms Mahajan decided to refer the issue to Ethics panel. T
he BJP, CPI(M) and Congrees members raised the row in the House yesterday and demanded a probe.The sting video allegedly showing Trinamool Congress members accepting bribes has rocked both the Houses of Parliament.
Yesterday raising the issue in the House, CPI(M)’s Mohammad Salim said, ”It is a shameful incident and matter must be investigated. BJP member SS Ahluwalia and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of the Congress also demanded investigation into the matter. In counter attack, AITC member Saugata Roy had asked the Speaker that under what rule BJP, Congress and CPI-M members were allowed to speak on the issue.
Prof Roy said, ”It is a part of political conspiracy ahead of West Bengal Assembly polls.” Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu had said truth has to be prevailed and suggested that there are two ways to probe the issue. ”Either government should do inquiry or House orders the probe.”
