Support of regional parties, independents to protect interests of Goa: Parrikar

New Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar Tuesday said the support of the regional parties and independents to him and his party was to protect interests of the state which had seen 12 CMs between 1992-2000.

Briefing media after being sworn in as Chief Minister, he said the support was for taking the state forward.

Stating that he was thankful to the allies for their support, he said speculation was rife for the past two days and the opposition Congress had even been rebuked by the Supreme Court.

”People from Delhi do not know but people of Goa are aware that from 1992 to 2000 there were 12 chief ministers. Because of this development of Goa had almost stopped. Even today after winning 17 seats, they are fighting among themselves,” he said.

“Nobody is in mood to extend them support. Because everybody knows Goa cannot move forward because of their infighting. They themselves have proved today by coming in a bus. The reason behind coming in bus was that if they come by car may be one of the cars would disappear on the way,” he added.
