Surgical strike should not be politicised: Shiv Sena

05 October,Lucknow

The Shiv Sena Wednesday asked political parties not to ‘politicise’ the issue of surgical strike as negative words will have a demoralising effect on the Army. Sedition charges should be slapped against those questioning the Army action in PoK, senior party leader Sanjay Raut said. ”Questioning Army’s action in PoK is ‘deshdroh’.

The whole country is behind the NDA Government and Indian Army for carrying out the surgical strikes. People like Arvind Kejriwal, who have questioned the Army’s role should be arrested and sedition charges should be slapped against him,” Raut told reporters, here.

He even suggested action against the cine stars, who spoke in favour of Pakistani artists. Pointing his finger on Bollywood actor Salman Khan, he said the actor’s father Salim had locked him in a room after he gave such irrational statement.”Country comes first. Those who have a penchant to praise Pakistan, can go and live there. Please do not speak ill about India and the Indian army,” he added.

Talking about Shiv Sena, he said the party will contest over 200 seats in Uttar Pradesh. ”We will go alone in UP and have no truck with any party, including BJP. We have our organisation and will try to win as many seats as possible,” the SS leader said.

Asked about the performance of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Raut said the latter has done well. ”Akhilesh is not a political man, still he has carried out development works in the state. He has been let down by his uncles,” he quipped. The SS leader also expressed anguish over infighting within the party. ”There are some unwanted elements in the party and they would be weeded out immediately,” he added.
