Swamy Writes To PM Demanding To Strip Rahul’s Indian Citizenship
16 November, New Delhi
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has accused Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi of declaring himself as a British national in 2003 to float a private company in London.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Swamy demanded that the government should strip Mr. Gandhi’s Indian citizenship and his membership of the Lok Sabha.
Addressing media in New Delhi today, he also released some documents claiming that the annual record of the company has given his date of birth correctly but declared him as a British national with an UK address. He also claimed that the company was registered in in 2003 and it was dissolved in 2009.
Swamy said he will also write to the Lok Sabha Speaker requesting her to refer the matter to the Committee on Ethics for action. Meanwhile, Congress has dismissed the allegations.
Congress Party spokesperson Ajay Maken said Swamy is in habit of making what he called silly statements to seek publicity. He said nobody takes him seriously.
