Swine Flu deaths in India crosses 700 mark, Center asks states to open 24X7 helpline

With the number of people affected with Swine Flu in the country crossing the 10,000 mark, Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth directed the states to ensure round the clock functioning of outbreak monitoring cells and necessary helpline facilities.
While chairing a meeting of the National Crisis Management Committee to review the Swine Flu outbreak, he also asked the states drug controllers to ensure availability of necessary vaccines along with guidelines for vaccination and treatment protocol.

With 40 more deaths due to the contagious Swine Flu reported in the country, the toll crosses 700 mark as the virus continued to spread its tentacles to new states including Mizoram.

In Rajasthan, death toll due to swine flu has reached 202 this year. Health department has so far conducted door-to-door survey of 24 lakh houses and more than 25 lakh people screened in the state.After screening 1,72,296 people were provided Tamiflu tablets.
