Swine Flu Menace : Death Toll reaches 292 In Gujarat 170 In Maharashtra

H1N1 Virus menace continued uncheck in Gujurat and Maharashtra and the situation is likely to lead to worse in view of the upcoming Holi festival .

Swine flu has claimed 9 more lives taking the total number of deaths to 292 in Gujarat since January.

2 more deaths were reported from Ahmedabad and Junagadh districts, while one death each reported from Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar and Amreli.

Health Department sources said that 138 new cases of swine flu were reported across the state yesterday, taking the total number of cases of H1N1 virus to 4904 till date.

Maximum 45 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad district alone, while Surat district has reported 23 new cases during last 24 hours. Meanwhile, state Government has claimed that more 172 patients have been cured and discharged from the hospitals. Thus total number of patients cured from swine flu till now has reached to 3410.

The death toll due to the H1N1 virus in Maharashtra has risen to 170 with nine more patients succumbing to the disease since yesterday. According to state health department, a total of 106 fresh cases of swine flu were reported taking the total number of cases registered to 2005 this year.

Maharashtra continues to reel under the menace of swine flu, taking the total toll this year to 170 in the State. Since the beginning of 2015 Mumbai that has recorded a total of 687 swine flu cases.

In view of the upcoming Holi festival, the state health department has asked people to avoid visiting crowded places as the virus can easily transmit through air.

The state health department has advised citizens not to panic but at the same time has asked people, especially the children and elderly people not to ignore any swine flu symptoms.
