Twenty-five years on, 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts investigation blaze still rages

Mumbai,November 28:

A supplementary chargesheet was filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) before the TADA Court against one Ahmed Kamal Shaikh,a suspect in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts, according to official sources.

The chargesheet was filed by the investigating agency here on Tuesday.

The suspect,who is now in judicial custody,was arrested on June 1 after 25 years when the incident took place.

The investigations of CBI reveal that the suspect acted as a crucial link between the foreign handlers and Indian operatives,who carried out a series of 12 bomb explosions at prominent places here on March 12.

The terrorist act was extensively planned by prime fugitives namely,Dawood Ibrahim,Chhota Shakeel,and Tiger Memon.

According to the CBI,the suspect even met the mastermind of the blasts Dawood Ibrahim and later acquired training on how to operate various weapons and detonate explosives.

Among others,the incarceration of actor Sanjay Dutt for five years and the hanging of Yakub Memon in 2015 are the two highly sensational conviction in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts.
